The talented photographer Linda Clarke has taken this gorgeous photograph of my cable beanie. What a lovely little man, wonder what he is dreaming about.

Acorn Hats
New and improved acorn hats. Love these, think the oak leaf really finished them off nicely. Can't wait to see some photos of them being worn as my small people are too big to model them. If you would like one yourself they are for sale here here on Etsy.

Button Beanies
Another new design for the shop and new yarn. And I really love this yarn, it is soft, squishy and the colour changes are gorgeous. I am waiting for the buttons to be delivered then these can be listed in the shop. One of these is already reserved for a special little man who will be arriving before Christmas ;)

Strawberry Season
Well the universe conspired against us this year and we never made it to the pick your own strawberry farm. I am hoping we can get there to get some berries so that I can have summer pudding before its too late.
This strawberry baby hat is one of my favourites, love the little crochet strawberry flower. My 4 year old still asks me to make one in her size everytime she sees one on my needles!

Oatmeal Marl Hat
Loving this new oatmeal marl yarn. It is a wool mix so a little warmer than my other pom pom hats. It has a lovely natural rustic look and is great for unisex baby gifts. Thank you Linda Clarke Photography for the fabulous photo, what a gorgeous little girl!
Hat available for custom order at The Yarn Owls Nest.

Sunny Seaside Inspired Hat
A few lovely beach days have inspired the colourway for this newborn baby hat. It is knitted in a lovely silvery grey and denim blue vegan yarn and the prototype was actually knitted up on the beach. It is for sale already up on The Yarn Owl's Nest Etsy Shop but if you would like a different size please contact me.
As for the beach, everyone loved it, and I am still finding sand around the house even after hoovering and sweeping!

Girl-ing Up My Brown Pom Pom Hat!
I absolutely love this! What a great idea, I never thought of this hat as anything but a boys hat but the talented Tami Bears, photographer at Artistic Photography by Tami added a lovely pink flower and voila, perfect for a newborn girl!
This hat in a number of sizes and in other colours is available in my Etsy shop.

Star Wars Baby
So today is Star Wars Day. Mr T is a big Star Wars fan, and his little sister has realised that being interested in Star Wars means she can play with him and his lego a bit more, something she is always trying to do! For a long time this Yoda baby hat has sat in my to-do pile until a photographer reminded me and I finally cast it on. It is knitted with a super soft chunky acrylic yarn and I think it is a great match for Yoda himself.
I borrowed Mr T's lego figures and set myself up a little scene with them, only to be told that this character would not be with that character and so on, so I let him set them up instead. I am not sure whether to stock this hat or whether to keep it for custom orders as the ears took more concentration than I have late at night at the moment. This one is winging its way to Ireland to Linda Clarke, hopefully I will be able to share a photo of it being worn by a gorgeous newborn baby soon.
If you would be interested in ordering one please contact me through my Facebook page, here or via The Yarn Owls Nest, my Etsy shop. In the meantime May The Force Be With You!

Self Striping Yarn
I love using self striping yarn, especially the Adriafil Knitcol range. On my needles right now is a baby hat knitted in the shade called Degas.

Pom Pom Earflap Hat
I love this photo of my pom pom hat, it has a real spring feel to it. This is the hat I blogged about here but in a different colour. I am really pleased at is one of the hats I have actually designed the pattern for myself. If you would like to buy one they are available in a few different colours and sizes on my Etsy shop, or message me through the shop if you would like an earflap pom pom hat in this colour or another colour or size not listed.

Monkeying about
I knitted this little guy as a special request for my photographer Rachel Jefferies. I adapted a pattern from Melody's Makings to make it work with Stylecraft Chunky yarn. The fluffy parts are knitted from a strand of Stylecraft and a strand of King Cole Moments in Koala. The pattern suggested white for the face and inner ears but I went with cream as white seemed a bit harsh. I am not sure whether to list him in the shop as he took a fair bit of knitting and sewing but I may offer him for custom orders!

Big Smiles
A happy customer sent me a photo of her gorgeous daughter Lexie! She is exactly eight weeks old on this photo and her smile is totally infectious! If you have a photo of your little one in one of my hand knits I would love to see it (I also offer a discount for a future purchase if I use the photo here or on my Facebook page!)

Fluffy Fancy Yarn

Daisies
Have spent the last few days designing a new daisy hat. Am loving it as along with sunflowers, daisies are one of my favourite flowers. The actual daisy took a fair few attempts to get it just right but the hat was first time lucky! I just hope I can remember what I did so I can repeat it (yes I know I should have written it down as I went along!).
The daisy is adapted from this great pattern here and the hat is from my head!!

When there is no baby to model your pixie hat, try a small melon!!!
Have chosen a new design for the autumn, a cute pixie hat from this pattern. It looked quite small when it was knitted up but due to the fact that its ribbed I knew it would stretch. After looking about for a suitable head sized object to try it out on I found this melon!!
I am really pleased with it, can't wait to see a photo of it on an actual real baby instead of a piece of fruit!

Nautical Knot Baby Hat
I have been quite a busy bee recently trying to stock up the shop ready for autumn and here is one of the new designs. I have done knot hats before but with a much thinner smaller knot but am loving this chunky one and the navy and linen colour scheme. Now I'm trying to decide what other combinations to do, wondering about red and cream and a brighter blue and cream or linen? Would welcome any suggestions as to colour combinations you think might look good!

Giveaway!
Who fancies a giveaway? I have decided to run my first giveaway and was umming and ahhing about which hat to offer. I can't decide so I am going to offer the lucky winner a choice of two, both in newborn size.
I have never done a giveaway so I am hoping I'm doing it right, all you have to do is comment on this blog post saying which hat out of the raspberry berry hat or the chocolate and cream long elf hat you would like. I will pick the winner out of the hat at the beginning of July and am happy to post anywhere worldwide.
If you would like more chances to win you can follow this blog, share my giveaway and blog on your own blog, share and like The Yarn Owls Nest Facebook Page, or any other promotion I have forgotten??!! If you do anything extra please tell me in your comments so I can add more entries for you. (Any seasoned giveaway-ers notice anything I have forgotten please nudge me and let me know, thanks!)
Here are the hats that I am offering, remember to mention which one you would like. Whichever hat isn't given away this time will be available in another giveaway in the autumn when my shop will be a year old!

Some New Photos
A few weeks ago I sold some hats to a wonderful photographer Rachel Jefferies and this week she was kind enough to send me some of her images.
Newborn Raspberry Hat available on Etsy (other sizes listed and custom orders always welcome)
Newborn Bunny Hat available in lots of other colours as well here
Don't they look fab?! I know real babies must wear my hats and mittens but it really makes my day to actually *see* them in action, and what gorgeous models as well. If you are local to Calne and need a photographer make sure you check Rachel out as her pictures are fab and she is a lovely lady.
